Jewels is a 10-year-old, 55-lb female Lab/German Shepherd mix. She entered the Ahimsa House temporary program in December of 2015 when her owner was escaping a domestic violence situation. During her time in our program, she has been updated on vaccinations and treated for heart worms. Due to no fault of her own, Jewels' owner is unable to reclaim her, and we are now seeking a furever home for Jewels.

Jewels is a very sweet and loving dog that gets along well with humans and even children. However, she does not get along with cats and would need to be temperament tested with other dogs. Jewels loves chewing on bones, playing outside, riding in the car, and snuggling up on the couch. Please consider giving this senior dog a place to call home.

Jewels is currently located in Atlanta, GA. Ahimsa House may be able to assist with transporting outside of the Atlanta area. Interested parties should contact Sally at Ahimsa House: sally@ahimsahouse.org

About Ahimsa House

About Our Rescue Group...

In families affected by domestic violence, pets are also at risk. Abusers threaten, injure, and kill family pets to terrorize others in the home--yet most domestic violence shelters are unable to allow pets to accompany their owners to safety. Nearly 50% of individuals delay escaping the abuse because of concern about their pets. Ahimsa House provides emergency pet safehousing, veterinary care, pet-related safety planning, legal advocacy, a 24-hour crisis line, outreach programs, and other services to help the human and animal victims of domestic violence across Georgia reach safety together. When it is not possible for the animal and his or her owner to be reunited, we look for loving adoptive homes for the pets.

Our Adoption Process...

We have an adoption application and interview process for all prospective adopters. We charge a $125 adoption fee for dogs and $90 adoption fee for cats.
