My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Molly's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and very frightened) Molly tucked tightly into a cage...her time was up. Farfel's immediately got an email describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Westie mix is..and the need to save her life. We immediately agreed and Molly became a very treasured Farfel's dog.

Molly earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with her great personality and kind and positive attitude (once comfortable) toward the world. At 4 - 5 years old and 17 lbs (such a great size and age to be beyond puppyish behavior and be able to accompany her family just about anywhere), this beautiful and cuddly girl is just waiting for positive and loving input and guidance to be the best adult dog she's capable of being.

We'd love to match Molly to a family that will spend lots of time with this very sweet girl. She would love a hike through the mountains with sunshine on her face or a leisurely walk through a neighborhood saying hi to friendly neighbors. Molly would be a star (she's incredibly smart) in Positive Reinforcement group obedience class. These classes will not only provide great socialization and behavioral skills...but will cement the relationship between Molly and her family.

Molly gets a lot of attention from dog-lovers when she's out and about with her foster. She has been identified as an eye-catching mix of a Westie and Scottish Terrier by the Texas vets. When she turns that gentle and wise look in your direction, you can't help but smile and acknowledge her Terrier intelligence, loyalty and sweet, cuddly nature.

It is Molly's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivates us to put her through Heartworm treatments..her precious life deserves to be saved! Molly has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves 3 shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives.

We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Molly as she becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as she becomes healthily heartworm-free.

You can see a sign that this sweet girl has had difficult times. But not for her to be negative..a smile and a wag once she is comfortable is more Molly's style. It's clear that she's beginning to leave the pain behind and is finding lots of reasons to be joyful.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for dog-loving retirees or a family with very gentle older kids for Molly's family. It's not that she doesn't like young kids... we feel that children that are old enough to participate in Molly's training regimen would be valuable to her success out in the world. Active retirees would also be perfect for this pup. She would thrive on the time and attention that she could share with them.

Molly is a loyal and positive girl..this makes her very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Molly would enjoy time with other sweet dogs who can be fun-loving yet very gentle playmates.

Molly has a non-shedding (or so it appears), cotton-soft coat that requires periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep it healthy, cottony-soft and shining. A supplement like salmon oil will bring out the breed-appropriate beauty of Molly's scruffy coat.

Molly will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/29/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this very sweet and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
