Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Maisey and her brother Frankie (see picture 3) are two cutie-pie kittens, approx. 3 months old, whom PBJ rescued from a rural West Virginia shelter. Their momma cat tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency (FIV+), as did the kittens, but often times kittens' tests are "false positive" because they acquire FIV antibodies from their mother's milk while nursing. Such kittens often retest negative at the age of 6 months, but they may not.
That being said, whether Maisey and Frankie remain FIV+ or not, an FIV+ cat can live a completely normal life in both quality and duration as an indoor-only kitty, because they won't be exposed to diseases that their immune systems cannot fight off. And, FIV+ cats don't post a risk to FIV- cats in the same household unless they are prone to vicious fighting in which serious bite wounds result.
For more information about FIV, please visit: http://bestfriends.org/resources/fiv-cats-faqs
We'd love for Maisey and Frankie to be adopted as a pair, but either kitty can go by him/herself to a home as long as their is another young kitty to play with.
