Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Stella, Stella is about 1 1/2 years old. She was found on the streets, where she most likely had been dumped and had been living for several months. A good samaratian found her and she came into the rescue after attempting to find her owner. She was very thin and very scared. She has improved with time, however, she is a work in progress. It is obvious that whoever owned her before did not give her any attention for she craves it.
Stella loves her person but can be standoffish with strangers. She has a high prey drive so would not be suited for anyone with livestock, small children, cats, or other small animals. She would do best as an only dog, or with only a male dog, as she appears to have female to female dominance issues. She is learning to walk well on the leash and has learned basic commands such as sit, down, stay, and come. She is housebroken as she has never had an accident in the house.
Stella is shy and still scared of sudden movements. She can become overly excited if ball playing is initiated, or at feeding time. However, we are working on these issues and she is making good improvements. Her foster home describes her as a " work in progress" because she came to them with many issues, such as things she had to learn to survive on the street. She can be very loving to her person and really wants to please.
Stella is not well suited to the novice Border Collie owner. She would love nothing more than to forge a close bond with her person. An ideal home is one where she is an only dog, her person works at least part time from home, and her new owner must be committed to help Stella boost her confidence with continuous training.
