My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LILY is a 7 year old spayed yellow female Lab who weighs 85 pounds. She was used as a breeding machine. She came into the rescue and needed some help adjusting to a normal life. She was chosen to participate in the Happy Hounds Prison Program. Lily has learned a lot of commands and is very focused. She'll do anything for a treat and has enjoyed doing some agility work. She gets along with the other dogs in the program, but ultimately, she would be happiest in a home with another submissive male, or by herself. What she loves most is people. She loves the attention, the nurturing, the love that she lacked in her previous life. Lily is good with cats. Sometimes she will bark at other dogs on the leash, but she has improved greatly. She needs to go to a home with a fenced-in yard - no invisible fence - in a quiet neighborhood without too much activity around. Lily is approved for kids 10 +.

Update: Lilly and her foster family can't believe she is still waiting to find her forever home, but her fosters are loving every minute of every day with Lilly. She is a happy, silly girl who loves nothing more than hanging out with her people, but playing in the yard is a close second. Lilly greets her foster kids every morning with an excitedly wagging tail when they come down the stairs. The kids pile on the couch and Lilly lays across them to get her morning belly rubs and to tell them how much she loves them. Lilly then heads outside to the yard to play, were the joyful frolicking really begins! Whether it's a tennis ball, a squeaky toy, or an old deflated soccer ball, Lilly loves chasing thrown toys or playing a game of tug. This past weekend, Lilly got to spend Fathers Day at the family cookout in the yard with lots of new people and new kids, and she was a perfect angel with everyone. The guests couldn't believe that she was 7 or the fact that she hasn't been scooped up yet and a few families left with kids telling Mom and Dad they wanted to take Lilly home! Lilly has great manners in the house and is trusted to have run of the place when her people are out. She is gaining weight well and her skin allergies seem to be subsiding with her medicated baths.
