My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Phoenix is a young BC. He will be a year old in June and is full of puppy exuberance. He is quite handsome and has the typical BC markings. He is Black and White with hints of Tan on his tail, and back legs. He has a wonderful tail that is his flag. The tip and bottom side is White with a hint of Tan in the middle. The top is Black. He has many naughty spots (freckles) on his face and legs, and the ones on his front feet are Tan. He's medium to large build at about 40lbs. He is tall and slender, athletic, and very coordinated for a puppy. He does not show much ball drive, but loves to chase a frisbee. It's bringing it back he doesn't get yet. He is a high energy BC and will need to have a lot of outlets. He would be a great candidate for agility training, frisbee, or obedience training.

Phoenix has been in foster care about 2 months now recovering from surgery, and learning his manners. He ended up in a shelter at 5 months old because he was too much for the family that got him as a puppy. He was bored and terrorized the cat. He also has a history of eating his blankets, beds, toys, trees, anything and everything. I do not let him alone with a toy and I keep a close eye on him outside. He is crate trained and loves his crate. If I want to put him in the crate, I just put my hand in the treat jar. He runs to his crate, bumps the door with his nose, and runs in. There is no bedding, blankets, or toys in the crate and he is fine with that.

He learns very fast with most things. The first time out for a walk he was reactive to everything. He pulled, barked at other dogs, and tried to chase cars. He now knows what "leave it" means and walks with a loose leash most of the time. He loves to meet new people and is very friendly. He's still learning not to jump up and I don't let small children to close for their safety. He knows "sit, down, shake, and sit pretty". He knows to sit before he gets his leash on, and to wait for his dinner. He will sit and stare at his food until I give him the "ok".

Phoenix needs to find his forever home. He needs a home that will keep him stimulated, and can deal with a high energy BC. He would do great with older children, but still has too much puppy exuberance for small children. He does well with other dogs, but again may be too much for smaller dogs. I have a 12+ year old BC and a 6 year old BC. He loves to wrestle with the 6 year old, and they are quite rough. He has learned to leave the 12 year old alone. Absolutely no cats!!!!
