My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Reece is as sweet as he is derpy, and as derpy as he is handsome!

Reece arrived in Minnesota very fearful, but with continued love and patience, is learning to be brave with new people and places. At this point, Reece needs to be adopted into a home with another dog as he gains confidence, takes cues and learns the ropes from another dog or dog(s). Reece's foster family also has a cat that he enjoys being around, but sometimes forgets that he shouldn't chase.

Reece is housebroken, and isn't comfortable being kenneled, but does fantastic with access to his
foster family's main floor, where he can hang out with the his foster family's dog when they're gone, or at work.

Reece sleeps where he wants to at night, sometimes on his foster people's bed, and sometimes he'll move to the floor, or a dog bed next to their bed. Reece's foster family does not have children, but he enjoys the company of children, and often warms up to them a little sooner than he does with new adults.

It may take several meetings, and a little extra love and patience to get to know this special guy, but once you've earned Reece's trust, he loves to snuggle up next to you on the couch, ham it up, and woof and play with any and all toys. Reece also loves the outdoors, car rides, dog parks, and going on walks, and would love to find a furever home that enjoys going on walks and being outdoors as much as he does. Reece is estimated to be about 1-2 years old and weighs about 47 pounds. Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed.

All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.

Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.

We also have an Adoptable Dog Meet & Greet on Saturday July 9, 2016, at Fetch Delivers Warehouse, 783 Harding St. NE. Suite 150, Minneapolis, MN 55413, from noon - 2 pm. Occasionally dogs cannot make it to the Meet & Greet, therefore feel free to verify if your dog of interest is able to attend. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
