Pepper's Story...
Pepper is a 5yr old female ABTR took in because she needed our help! She's not a Boston at all, but probably an English Bulldog/French Bulldog mix. She has had a "ruff" life in her younger days. She arrived to our care with chemical burns, malnutrition and testing heartworm positive. All have been treated, and now feeling better, Pepper has been able to demonstrate what a great dog she is!

Pep, as we affectionately call her, really has no "pep" at all, her two favorite things to do are eat and nap. She is more comfortable wearing her t-shirt, maybe because it fits a little snug and offers her some security. She's adorable wearing it! She's had some anxieties around storms and rides in the car, but has shown some improvement with hard work from her foster mom. She gets "itchy" during allergy season, but prescription strength antihistamines help her stay comfortable.

Pepper gets along with the dog in the home, is cat friendly and is also good around children; she's even been around Guinea pigs (although I wouldn't let her around them alone.) She is crate and house trained and walks great on a leash. Because of Pepper's anxieties, she would be happiest where she had a human around, maybe with a work-from-home family or a retired couple.

Pepper weighs about 28 lbs, is completely vetted, and has completed heartworm treatment. She is now on routine heartworm preventive.

**Note: We are sending Pepper to a specialist to evaluate her conformation in the hips. She will not be released for adoption until we receive that evaluation and recommendations. We expect that visit to occur late May, first of June.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pepper, a Courtland English Bulldog/French Bulldog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English Bulldog/French Bulldog for sale in Courtland, or seeking a English Bulldog/French Bulldog dog from a breeder in Courtland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Courtland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Courtland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English Bulldog/French Bulldog breeders who help with English Bulldog/French Bulldog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Courtland paves the way for another one to be saved.
