Facts about Marmalade

  • Breed: American Shorthair
  • Color: Orange Or Red Tabby
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
DOB July 1, 2012.
Marmalade is a sweet affectionate cat who is extremely shy. Marmalade loves to run up and down the stairs and play vigorously, although she does also enjoy quietly sleeping on her foster mom's bed. She likes to play with the tassels or laces on shoes. She also likes to play with plastic bags left in a garbage can, tipping out the garbage to get to them. She will make you smile watching her playing around the home.

Marmalade's instinct in a new environment is to hide and she will persevere in this instinct for several weeks, gradually venturing out as she becomes more comfortable. Her forever family will need to be patient as she becomes used to her new home, but the reward will be a very lovable cat.

Marmalade was returned to TCR by her previous owners because she was too shy for their busy household with other animals. She is insecure around other cats.

About Toronto Cat Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Toronto Cat Rescue is a registered, no-kill charity run by volunteers.

Our mission is to rescue and find homes for abandoned, sick or injured cats from situations of abuse, neglect or imminent euthanasia.

Our vision is for Toronto to be a city in which no adoptable cat is killed and rescue organizations such as Toronto Cat Rescue are no longer needed.

Our registered charity number: 889-198-727-RR-0001

Our Adoption Process...

Decided on the cat or kitten you would like to adopt? Please call 416-538-8592, or email adopt@torontocatrescue.ca.

An adoption counsellor will return your call and give you more details about the cat you are interested in and ask some questions about your home to make sure the cat will be a "purr-fect" fit. We are happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

You will be supplied with the foster home address to have a meet and greet with your kitty. If both parties are happy, you can sign the TCR Contract of Adoption, pay the adoption fee and take your cat home with you in a safe carrying case.

Adoption fee is $175 per cat. This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. It includes 6 weeks of free pet insurance. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!

Note:

1. ALL senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopters choice, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175.

2. Our adoption fee for a bonded pair is $100 per cat, vs. $175 per cat.
