McGruff is the name and being goofy is my game.  You see, I came into rescue back in 2006 and was adopted by the couple who pulled me from a kill shelter in Ohio.  Unfortunately, my dad passed away and my mom is no longer able to care for me and my fursisters.  I was returned to my original foster mom in Rockford, IL, where it took me a long time to adjust to my new surroundings.

Even though I may be a senior, you can't really tell.  I LOVE belly rubs and being outside.  Sometimes my foster mommy has to pick me up to bring me inside because I insist on enjoying the outdoors.  I do have a bad habit and must be honest.  I mark in the house.  But if you put a belly band on me then it will save your sanity.  PS- you can see me sporting the latest in male fashion accessories (ie- the belly band) in some of my photos.

I am current on all my shots and heartworm negative.  I am ok with other dogs but I should not be around children.  Due to my life prior to my original rescue in 2006, something bad must have happened and I can get snarly and ungentlemanly.  So it would be best for all if I not be around children of any age.

My foster mommy lives in Rockford, IL and has restricted my adoption radius to within a 90 min drive from her.  She needs to show you how to handle me and some do's & don't's around me. If, after reading all this, you're still interested in giving this old man a home, please email my foster mommy, Deborah, at deborah@eskierescuers.org.  Don't be shy!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
