Dukie's Story...
Hey folks, my name is Dukie. The ladies here at the shelter tell me I'm a handsome Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, I'm not sure what that is. I'm only two and haven't learned the big words yet but if the ladies say I'm handsome I'll roll with that. I love my friends here, we have so much fun running and playing, but at the end of the day, the fun ends. There is no family for me to go home to, this isn't doggie daycare. I spend my nights alone in my kennel and being alone is scary. I'm hoping I find a new family very soon, one with a couple of kids I can snuggle with at night or another doggie I can play with or even just a mom and dad to share the couch with and watch some Animal Planet. I can't wait to be part of a family, so hurry, apply to adopt me so we can go home together!

**Dukie is heartworm positive but will be treated at no additional cost to his new family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dukie, a Columbia Rhodesian Ridgeback dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rhodesian Ridgeback for sale in Columbia, or seeking a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog from a breeder in Columbia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Columbia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Columbia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rhodesian Ridgeback breeders who help with Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Columbia paves the way for another one to be saved.
