My world is pretty terrific, outside of not having a real home of course. I love playing and running in the backyard, sniffing out all the good smells and playing with my squeaky toys. I'm looking for a special person who can overlook that I can't see. And that they CAN see that I'm a dog, and a great one at that. I've had no issues being blind and foster mom doesn't need to care for me any more than any other dog. You know about the 5 senses, right? Well, dogs use their noses more than any other sense and maybe that's why dogs do super well without sight. And it didn't take long for me to figure out foster mom's house or find my soft, comfy bed! Are you the kind of person who can SEE past a slight disability? I hope so because I really want a home of my own where I can lick and love to my heart's content.

Erica is a beautiful, female pure-breed german shepherd with a heart of gold. She sees with her heart and you can tell by her affectionate ways. She is extremely well behaved and loves everyone, including children and dogs. She can be a bit goofy and when bored likes to chase her tail. She's about 2 years old and was rescued off a very busy street where she could have been easily killed. An eye specialist couldn't tell us the cause of Erika's blindness or even if she was just born blind, but either way, her intelligence allowed her to fully adjust.

If you are interested in meeting any Poochmatch dog at our weekly adoption event on Saturdays at the Petsmart in Yorba Linda, CA (5521 Mirage St.) between 1-5 PM, please fill out an application from our website,, and return it via email to no later than 11 AM on Fridays. Due to the high volume of dogs and puppies in our foster homes, it is impossible to bring them all every Saturday. The only way to ensure that the dog that you are interested in will be at the adoption event is to FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that the dog you are interested in will be at our adoption event. If you cannot make the time frame of our events, appointments can be made at another time and location solely at the discretion of the foster parent.

All adoption fees cover the mandatory and non-negotiable spay/neuter, rabies, microchip, necessary vaccinations, fecal testing and deworming. Adoption fees vary solely based on age and size.

About Poochmatch

About Our Rescue Group...

I became involved in animal rescue because of the overwhelming number of stray animals I observe in less affluent areas of Southern California. I do what I do because I enjoy connecting all the dots - full circle - in terms of rescuing dogs, getting them cleaned up, treated medically and then adopted.

Poochmatch is a small rescue group with half-a dozen volunteers. Since our founding in 2006, we have done over 2,400 dog adoptions. We are on track to do over 300 in 2016.

We'd love to have more assistance. We need help administratively from individuals with computers, digital cameras and marketing skills. Please see for more information.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Adoption events are generally held every Saturday at Petsmart in Yorba Linda (Savi Ranch) 5521 Mirage Street from noon to 4 pm. To confirm we will be holding an adoption event, call Lydia at 714-241-9765.

Our Adoption Process...

We do not have a facility. Our dogs are in foster homes with volunteers.

All prospective adopters must complete and adoption application. Upon receipt and review (usually within 24 hours), a mutually agreeable appointment date, time and place will be scheduled. Prospective adopters must be receptive to a home check, sign an adoption contract and provide an adoption donation sufficient to cover the cost of spay/neuter, vaccinations and a microchip. The adoption fee for young or adult dogs is generally $225 - $275. The adoption fee for puppies varies from $325 to $425. The adoption fee always includes the cost of spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper/Parvo & Bordetella), De-worming and Fecal Testing.
