About Krieger~

Krieger was an owner surrender at West Valley Animal Shelter. Krieger is a 4-5 year old "pure bred" German Shepherd. We believe Krieger was ignored and left outside a lot of his younger years. He took a while to adjusting to the indoor life. Now that he has figured out the glories of being an indoor family dog he just can't get enough! Because of his neglect early in life he may take a little while adjusting into his forever home, but the wait is worth it. Once this boy bonds to you, he is forever seeking your love and affection. If you havn't noticed by the pictures, Krieger is missing an ear. After a very bad infected hematoma the vet felt it best to remove the ear completely. This doesn't slow him down one bit and does not affect his health in any way. Krieger is a get up and go type of dog who has a lot of energy, he would do best in a home where people are home often and active, without small kids & with experienced dog handlers who understand him. Krieger is smart, too smart, if you don't make sure he is minding his manners he will take advantage. Krieger is ok around some dogs, he is not dog park or play date material he is pushy and doesn't really understand dog language. We lovingly call him the "fun police" because if he sees other dogs playing he has to rush in and put a stop to it. If you have other dogs in the home we have to be very selective about them because many dogs will not like Kriegers personality. He would do best as a single animal home. He has been around other cats but it's not ideal they stress him out because he is obsessed over knowing where they are at all times and when he finds them he presses his whole muzzle on them to sniff them from head to toe~ Not to fun for a kitty cat.

Over all Krieger is an amazing dog who will find his forever home- if you think that could be you email us at tailsandscalesanimalrescue@gmail.com and fill out our application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1OmKL0dm_KY6AVAOu65a9zbit3boEV2wUN5HGUGULwSw/edit?usp=drive_web

Our Adoption Process...

How It Works:

Here at Tails and Scales Animal Rescue we do our best to ensure all animals get placed into their forever homes. We’ve established a secure process to assure all animals will be placed into homes that will be suited best for them and allow them to live happily ever after. If you’re interested in an animal we require an application to be placed. If your application is suitable for the animal you’re inquiring about we will contact you to set up a meeting where you can actually meet the animal! If the meet goes well, along with all other possible concerns addressed, there will be a final adoption procedure. If you are outside of the Southern California area you may still apply but understand we will still need you to meet the dog in person before we adopt a dog out. Currently we do not ship dogs through plane or other mode of transportation.

The Application:

We start with a simple online application! The application asks a series of questions which will provide more information about your home environment, activity levels, and experience in pet ownership. We do this to make sure the animal you’re interested in will mesh well with your current lifestyle and “wants” in the perfect pet. Of course, this is also to make sure that the Adopter is prepared to give the animal a good home for the rest of the animal’s life.

The Meet:

After the application we will set up a meeting time for you to come meet us and the animal. At this
stage we will make sure that the animal you’re interested in is what you’re expecting and that you’re both fitting for one another. We are happy to do multiple meets to make sure that everyone will have a happy life post-adoption! We do require a home check as well. In that process someone from Tails and Scales will meet with the potential adopter at their house at a pre-arranged time (with the Adopter present) – this is to make sure that your home is safe and suited for the animal you’re waiting to adopt!

Adoption:

After the home check is completed there’s the Final Adoption. At this stage the Adopter will sign a basic contract agreeing to provide care for the animal and to never relinquish the animal to a county shelter. If you can no longer provide for your animal we will ALWAYS take the animal back – no questions asked. You’ll receive a copy of all the animal’s medical records and a sample of what the animal has been eating so that you can transition their diet easily. Our adoption fees are as follows:

$200 for Dogs

$100 for Cats

$50 for Small Reptiles

$50 for Small Animals (Rabbits & Guinea Pigs)

$125 for Large Breed Reptiles (such as Some Monitors & Tegus)

After the Adoption:

We are also experienced in animal handling and training, as a courtesy we provide up to five *free*
training sessions (For Local Adopters)! These that can be used whenever you need. After five training sessions we will provide them at a heavily discounted price (please inquire for pricing details).

If the Adopter ever has questions or needs assistance we are here to help! It at any circumstances you are unable to provide a proper home, or if something happens and the adoption ends up not being suitable for your home or lifestyle, please let us know. We will gladly take the animal back!

As as always we are happy to answer any questions you may have!
