My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Millie is a 14.3 hand 12 yr old Quarter Horse mare (registration papers lost by prior owner and we don't know her name or even if she is truly registered). She came to us from a feedlot where she was within an hour of shipping to slaughter. She had been saddled but didn't know how to be ridden when we got her in May 2016. She was slightly underweight and needed a hoof trim but was generally healthy and showed no signs of abuse.
We've gotten her fully healthy and sound now and she started professional training in late July 2016. She has been doing great in training so far. Once she is a little farther along in her training, we will be setting her adoption fee and start showing her to potential new owners. At the end of the 30 days training included with her adoption, Millie will know how to walk/trot/lope under saddle, ride English and Western, trail ride confidently, and cross obstacles (cross rail size). Follow this page to see weekly or more often updates with videos and photos as Millie progresses in her training.

Update: Millie now has her own Facebook page so that you can follow her progress while she trains. Check her out at: https://www.facebook.com/Finding-a-Home-for-Millie-1239934949371798/

Our horses have received their basic vaccinations (Rabies vaccine, EWT combo vaccine) at the time of adoption. They have been dewormed and have a negative Coggins test as well. All horses have received a hoof assessment and trimming. Horses are also microchipped.

We do our best to determine what amount of training they have had and to represent them as accurately as possible. However, we usually do not know the history of our horses, so we determine training by how the horses act after we get them. Please call ahead or email to set up a time to meet our horses if you are interested in adopting. They are at foster homes so we may need up to a couple days notice in order to schedule a time for you to see them.
We desire for our horses to find a good home where the horse will be a good fit with the person adoption him/her. With that goal in mind, we do our best to accurately represent everything, good and bad, with our horses.
CARE provides one week free boarding until you can pick up your new horse. Adoption fees are sometimes negotiable to the right home. For more information, please email us at drkathyjordan@yahoo.com You can see our adoption applications and and more info about our rescue on our website, www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org. To make the adoption process faster, please submit an adoption application through our website. This in no way obligates you - it simply gets you approved to meet/adopt our horses. You can also call us at 864-972-9994.
