My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dolly. She is an 8 year old, 14.5 pound, Maltese who spent her life in a puppy mill as a breeder until she was taken into rescue. Dolly soon learned that people were good, life was good and she is enjoying every minute of it.

Dolly is house trained, crate trained (although doesn't need one) walks well on a leash (loves her walks) and does fine in the car. She enjoys playing with her foster sibs and follows her person around EVERYWHERE! Dolly loves to snuggle and be brushed and sleeps in bed. She loves other dogs and is good with cats. She will need regular grooming.

Dolly will need a home that is quiet and without children. Visiting children would be fine but on a regular basis they are too much stimulation for her. She definitely has to have another friendly dog living in the home. She has never in her life been without other dogs and she gets confidence and much pleasure from them. Dolly's adoption will require someone who is home more than an 8 hour work day will allow, someone that works from home, works VERY part time or is retired. A fenced yard or fenced area big enough for her to race around in, that leads directly into the home is a requirement. Dolly has lived her life in cruel confinement and deserves the freedom of a fenced yard. She is not a candidate for an invisible fence. We greatly appreciate your understanding of our decision to place her only with a physical fence.

Fill out an application and come and meet Dolly! This little bright white dog is soft and sweet, loves attention and deserves to spend the rest of her being adored.

Dolly and Gage (A Yorkie available through Star-Mar Rescue) both need to be in a home with another dog. They are fostered together and have grown very fond of each other. They balance each other out; younger/older, more active/ less active. If you are interested in adding two dogs there is no guessing with Dolly and Gage. They are a great pair.... You can see Gage's listing by clicking on Star-Mar's available dogs.

Star-Mar uses a natural care program for our dogs. We are happy to talk with anyone about how to keep your dogs safe and healthy through a vital nutrient diet and without the use of toxins or chemicals.

If you feel that your lifestyle and environment meet with Dolly's needs please contact Martha at learymjri@aol.com or call 330-466-3667 or 330-262-0515 for an application or more information. Dolly's adoption will require an approved application and home visit. The adoption must be completed with the adopter coming to the foster home. Adoption fee is $250. We will microchip with the new Avid Mini Microchip by request for $30 which includes your prepaid registration (a $19.95 value).

PLEASE READ; If you are using a commercial, chemical flea preventative like Trifexis, or Frontline, etc., these are dangerous neurotoxins that poison the life force of your dog (his or her blood) in order to kill a flea. There are serious side effects including seizures and even death from the use of this product. It is so toxic that it is under the control of the EPA, deadly to wildlife, a toxic water pollutant, dangerous to children and pregnant women.. With over 40,000 complaints of sickness and death a year reported to the EPA from the use of these chemical flea products, we feel we can no longer put our dogs in homes who use or will continue to use these products for flea prevention. We are happy to talk with you about natural flea preventatives. Please understand that whether you put the flea product on your dog or in your dog you are still poisoning your dog's blood. There is a safer, healthier way for your dog, for your family and for the environment! If you feel that you cannot give up chemical flea control then please consider other dogs for adoption. We hope that you will honor our decision to place our dogs in non chemical households.
