My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet handsome Jersey! Jersey is an awesome 4 yr. old Shar Pei / Beagle Mix that was surrendered to Friendship by his owners. He arrived with a large tumor on his back leg and only had limited use of that leg. He recently had the leg amputated and is now fully recovered and ready to find a loving home. He is house trained and has manners in the house. He is very calm and mild mannered and seems to like everyone he meets. He is just starting to show his playful side now that he is no longer in pain. The loss of his leg has not slowed him down at all and he absolutely loves going for walks and is good on a leash, although he does tend to show his strong and stubborn side as he likes to choose the direction and duration of the walk. Jersey seems fine with other dogs and lived with one while in foster care and they got along well. He enjoys car rides and treats. He is very food motivated, but not food aggressive. When he is excited or nervous he likes to carry around a small blanket or toy. Jersey does not like being left alone and shows signs of separation anxiety. He would do best in a house where someone is home a good deal of the time and he should be crated when left alone or he may cause damage due to his anxiety. He also appears to be frightened of the garden hose. He sleeps well at night in or out of a crate as long as he is close to his people. He just needs someone with patience to help him overcome his anxiety in a home where he feels safe and loved. Jersey recently spent the day at the stadium with the Cleveland Indians. He was very well behaved and loved by all.

If you have kids and/or another dog in your family and are interested in adopting a Friendship dog please bring them with you for a meet and greet. No appointment is necessary. Stop by anytime during regular business hours.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.
