CALLING ALL BEAGLE LOVERS! THIS BOY NEEDS A HOME (Family)!  Louie is a 6 to 6 1/2 year old, beagle weighing 38 lbs. The family that originally had him since he was a puppy, kept him outside dog and he wanted very much to be an inside dog. He will whine if he is left outside as he wants to be inside with his people. He is potty trained. He is a nice dog, very friendly and personable with people (loves them) and he loves other dogs. He loves his walks and should be with someone who would like a walking or even a hiking buddy. He does not like fireworks but many dogs don’t like being kept outside while that is going on. He knows the commands sit, stay, down. He likes toys, Rides well in the car, is very affectionate and loving. He will bark to alert when someone comes to the door. We don’t know how he is with cats.  We think he would be good with older kids.  He is current on his vaccinations, is neutered and micro-chipped. Louie is a very good boy just has anxiety from being left all alone.  A stay at home mom or dad or work from home person or a person that has recently retired are best suited for Louie. We know that there are times he will be alone for short periods in that case he should have a canine companion with a doggie door.  Louie wasn’t taken care of and now one of his ears is what they call a cauliflower ear.  He is still handsome and is a wonderful loving dog.">Adoption Questionnaire

Our Adoption Process...

AFCHS is a non-sheltered humane society organization modeled after some of the more progressive humane societies. We do not believe any home is better than no home, but instead, work to find the right home for each specific animal.
If you are interested in adopting an animal, please fill out and submit the adoption questionnaire or call 209-368-1761 or 209-365-0535. ALL of the fields on the application MUST be filled out or the application will not send, if this happens your time will have been lost. If you are having trouble filling out the on-line application we can email you a copy to fill out. You can also copy the application and paste it into a word document, fill it out and then send it to us at please call us afternoons at 209-368-1761 or 209-365-0535
Filling out a questionnaire is not a commitment to adopt. It does help us determine if the dog or cat you inquire about is suitable for your home and to suggest others not yet on our site.
While we have some dogs and cats at our Sanctuary most of them are in foster care or rescue homes. An application must be completed before an appointment can be set to meet them.
