Hi, my name is Riggs and I am about 5 years old. My foster mom says I am very loving boy who has come a long way from when I was found as a stray and taken to the shelter. I tested heartworm positive out of the shelter but my treatment has completed and I'm now ready to find my new home. The vet clinic said I was one of the best patients they’ve ever had despite all I’ve been through. You see, not only did I have heartworms but they discovered that I have 2 bullets lodged in my belly. Fortunately they are in the muscle so there is no need to remove them. They don’t bother me at all. I get along really well with my foster brothers and sisters. When I get excited (like when you come into the room or when you are about to feed me) my entire body wiggles. I am crate trained, housebroken, and know how to use a doggy door. I’m so lucky to have been rescued from my rough start in life. I have it really good now in my foster home but am ready to find my forever home. Could it be with you? If you need a loyal, sweet snuggler, email for more on how to adopt me.

**Because we require home visits, we only adopt locally to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For more on our adoption policies, please see the "Adopt" page of our website,

About Habitat 4 Paws

About Our Rescue Group...

The mission of H4P is to rescue and find permanent homes for dogs and cats while caring for them in a volunteer-staffed facility and foster program. We are currently raising funds for a building and in the interim are a foster based group.

Beyond just sheltering animals, we are proactive in other areas that will help keep animals out of municipal shelters. Paws Pantry animal-food bank collects and distributes dog and cat food to those in need. H4P hosts microchip clinics so that animals will have a permanent ID and can be reunited with their owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Nearly every weekend our pets that are ready for adoption are featured at locations such as Petsmart, Pet Supplies Plus and other locations. We can also arrange visits throughout the week. Check out the Events page of our website for a current schedule of events:

Our Adoption Process...

Dogs are $200
Puppies under 1 year are $250
Cats and kittens are $120

All animals have been spayed/neutered, received age appropriate vaccinations, had a heart-worm test, a Feline Leukemia test and a fecal check and are dewormed, microchipped and current on heart-worm and flea preventative medications at the time of adoption.

Adopters must be 21 and have a valid Texas driver’s license or a state-issued ID that matches the home address. If new to the area, a utility bill in the name of adopter will suffice. Renters must present proof of pet deposit or landlord approval to have a pet.

We require that you visit with a pet and adoption counselor. We prefer that all family members be present when the pet is introduced to its potential new family. Current pets are welcomed and encouraged to be part of the meeting too.

If a good match is found, adopters complete an application. Same day adoptions may be done; however, Habitat 4 Paws reserves the right to request a home visit prior to adoption. We do not hold pets nor do we adopt on a first-come/first-serve basis.
