**This boy needs extra special care in a forever loving home. He will need to be neutered at 6 months old and proof sent back to us for our files.
My name is Popeye. I am an 11 week old purebred Dachshund boy with an injured eye and a broken tail. Lucky for me, these nice folks rescued me at 8 weeks old when they were picking up a cocker spaniel boy and the shelter staff told them about me. My owner didn't want me anymore and turned me into this NC shelter with this eye issue and a docked tail. I will need to be neutered at 6 months old and you will be asked to send proof of altering back to this rescue for our records.
At the rescue vet they learned that my tail had somehow been broken awhile ago, so it was docked. It also seems there might be a minor break in the remaining part. I cannot open my left eye at all. I do have an eye socket, but the vet thinks that it was somehow injured to be like this or maybe it just never fully developed from birth. There is nothing that can be done to help it, so the vet wants to wait and see if it is bothering me. If it is, eye removal is the only option. I am a sweet puppy, playful and a bit possessive with food and paper products. I love belly rubs, spending quality time with you and I am a very good boy. I will need a special home where someone can take extra good care of me to see that I do not get hurt any more than I already have been. I will be a wonderful, playful puppy for someone to enjoy and love as a great companion who just needs extra care to enjoy a great rest of my life!
