Facts about Little Joe

  • Breed: Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male

Joe was found as a stray and was nursed back to health from bite wounds and a flea infestation. He was very skinny and covered in scabs and scars but now he is a healthy, full-vetted adoptable dog! Joe loves to be around people of all ages and enjoys a good belly rub. He is crate trained and is currently working on basic commands such as sit. Joe would do best in a home without cats but would not mind a canine pal. Joe is a lab mix estimated to be around 2 to 3 years old and weighs in at just over 40 pounds. Joe cannot wait to find his furever home! Will it be with you?

About Homeless Pet Placement League

About Our Rescue Group...

The Homeless Pet Placement League (HPPL) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that provides for the rehabiliation and adoption of stray and abandoned dogs and cats. The HPPL does not operate a shelter; animals are cared for in the homes of those who rescue them. The rescuer serves as the foster parent until the animal is adopted into a permanent home. This cooperative effort between HPPL and the foster home helps animals that would not fit the criteria allowing them to be placed for adoption at an animal shelter; these include animals with skin problems such as mange or ringworm, heartworm positive dogs, and injured or seriously malnourished strays.

The HPPL works with veterinarians in the Houston area to provide quality care for all of our rescued animals. Veterinarians assisting the HPPL are reimbursed for their services by the organization according to a set fee schedule. The majority of the HPPL budget goes toward providing veterinary care, including spay/neuter, for our animals. Since the HPPL does not require that a fee be paid to admit an animal into the foster program, we are entirely dependent upon private donations from members and nonmembers to help stray and abandoned animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The Homeless Pet Placement League will be holding pet adoptions every Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 PetsMart(1549 West Bay Area Blvd., Clear Lake Area), and HPPL is also holding adoptions at the PetsMart on Katy Freeway at Bunker Hill from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the FIRST Saturday of each month.
We can set up a "meet and greet" for you to see the animal prior to the adoption day if you contact us.

Our Adoption Process...

HPPL is a foster care rescue and rehabilitation organization for stray and abandoned animals. Since our animals are in foster homes, we show them on Saturdays at a variety of locations. We encourage people to contact us and fill out an application on our website in advance. Every adopter will spend time with an adoption counselor making sure the animal selected is a good fit. The adopter's application will ask for information about the home, the veterinarian, the other pets. This application will be screened either before or at the adoption site. If approved, the adopter will sign an adoption contract and pay a $100 fee for a cat and $125 for a dog. The organization will provide the new home with all medical records showing dates for spay/neuter surgery , testing, vaccinations and deworming.
