My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When a tiny malnourished sheltie arrived at Pikes Peak Humane Society and no one came forward to claim him, the shelter contacted us to see if we had the time and the resources to make him well. It was heartwrenching to even touch his skeletal body but his spirit was strong and they ALL deserve a chance. That is what 'rescue' is all about. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and this darling boy is 'Rory' aka 'The Mouse that Roared.' Rory has gone from 5# to 8# and is proving to the universe that his size was no indicator of his will and determination. As I type, he is stretched out on the floor of my study with all of the pooches just in case I should try to leave the room. He runs and plays and obviously enjoys the company of the other shelties in his foster home. Last night for the first time, he slept on the bed with his foster dad and awoke early this morning asking to go out to go potty. Wow! On the advice of our vet, we will rerun his bloodwork in another couple of weeks and make sure he is in tip-top shape for a neuter and rear dewclaw removal. He is heartworm negative but his other initial blood values reflected near starvation. We expect him to make a full recovery and go on to have the best life imaginable. Now, this is the part where YOU come in. PC/SR can do all of what I refer to as the 'front end stuff.' We get them safe, evaluate to see what they need as far as vet care goes, get it all done ASAP and find the suitable foster home for their needs. But without the most enlightened human beings on the other end to provide 'fur-ever homes', it is all for naught. Everything we do for the dogs is ultimately for you. So, please take a look at Rory and send him love and comtemplate whether you have enough love and time to help one of our sweet dogs to become all the dog he can be. Rory will certainly appreciate it. And so will his doggie friends. To begin our process, please read the adoption information section on our website at www.pueblocolliesheltie.org and continue to the online adoption application if we seem like the right group for you. We are not a shelter where people see a dog, offer money and take the dog home, all in one fell swoop. We are extremely selective when it comes to where one of our PC/SR dogs will go. Please share lots of details with us so that we can play matchmaker to the best of our abilities
