My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our first step is an application. If you are interested in any of our rescue dogs, go to our website at pueblocolliesheltie.org and THOROUGHLY read the Adoption Info section. If we sound like the right group for you, we invite you to submit an application after completing that section. We do not give our information about our dogs without an application. This dog is sweet and fun and loving. In fact, he is a real ’Cracker Jack’ of a dog! So why not name him “Cracker Jack?” Jack comes to us from a shelter where he came in as a stray. The shelter staff all waited each day for the phone call from a worried owner. “Do you have my beloved dog?” But no one called. It is hard on the humans who work in municipal shelters and watch this kind of scenario day in and day out. And we often find key staff members in shelters who will go above and beyond to save precious lives, one at a time, over and over. Janet is the woman that is Jack’s ‘fairy godmother.’ She did the work to get him out and get him safe. We don’t know a great deal about Jack yet. We have drawn blood for a heartworm test and baseline blood chemistry and CBC. We should have the results back shortly. He has had vaccines in the shelter and we will review them and booster what is necessary. Since Jack is already neutered, we will use the dollars for his healthcare to do a dental cleaning and polishing. He will also be microchipped with a Home Again chip and his database information will be included in his adoption package. He is housebroken and understands some obedience basics. His foster family will be schooling him in some basics around the house as well. By the way, Cracker Jack may have a touch of something in him beside smooth collie. For those folks who are not familiar with the term ‘smooth collie’, if you can imagine Lassie with a haircut, that is a smoothie. Although the haircoat is short, it is still a double coat with soft, downy fuzz that you will find on your clothing and furniture. If you will freak at a little dog hair around your home, perhaps a collie is not the right breed for you. I have always found the love more than balances out the vacuuming. Jack is perhaps 4 years old and will do well with men, women and children as well as other dogs and even the occasional cat. He would even be willing to train a family that has not had a dog before. Please go to our website at www.pueblocolliesheltie.org and read the adoption information section before you progress to the online application. Please share a ton of information with us so that we can help you find just the right dog for your family. Collies are very intuitive creatures and Jack will be reaching out toward his potential new family. And it might be yours.
