Gretel's Story...
Gretel is approximately 5 months old and a Great Dane/lab mix. She has double dewclaws so there's another breed in the mix as well, just not sure what! Gretel is timid on her own, but comes out of her shell when it's time to play. She is sweet and friendly and gets along with kids and other dogs. She's not sure about cats yet, so she keeps her distance and barks. Gretel is crate trained and is working on house training, but still nervous about walking on a leash. She takes a bit to warm up, but when she does she's a loyal and loving puppy!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gretel, a Austin Hound (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever for sale in Austin, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
