My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Jonah's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable...and extremely dirty and matted.. Jonah (and his brother Forrest) tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Havanese mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Jonah became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future.

This could be one of the most awful photos of a beautiful puppy that we've ever received. Through this blurry image, you can see that Jonah is a gorgeous guy who is very frightened by his intake at a dreary shelter. We've requested new photos but have yet to receive them. We'll update as soon as we do so.

At just 8 months old and 12.6 lbs (anticipated to be 14 lbs when full-grown), this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Jonah to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it.

Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Jonah and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success!

Jonah gets lots of attention when he's out and about with his foster because he's a stunning guy. He's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. Jonah was identified by shelter vets as a Havanese/Poodle mix and we can see both beautiful breeds in this cutie-pie. He's an adorable and fun scruffy puppy that's irresistible!

When Jonah turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Jonah 's style once he's acclimated to his new environment. It's clear that he is working hard on leaving any pain behind.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult or retired family for Jonah. It's not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Jonah is more comfortable around quieter energy. A retired couple or individual or a person working at home would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that these groups often put into their pets. Jonah, once bonded, will be a loyal and very loving companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Jonah would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you weigh less than 15 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs.

Jonah is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Jonah's foster mom is very happy to report that Jonah is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Jonah will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life.

Jonah will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 6/10/16. Applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
