. Bertha is another of the Hopatcong hoarder dogs and is timid but sweet natured and learning to enjoy attention. She looks like she's had many litters of pups over the years and was covered in feces and urine staining from a lifetime living in filth. We think she's a Jack Russell/whippet mix? About 25lbs full grown and 5-6 years old.
Having the opportunity to help frightened neglected dogs like these learn trust and enjoy their lives is the most rewarding part of rescue and reminds us of why we keep doing what we do, and we are looking forward to watching these special dogs' true personalities start to emerge as they feel safe. So we can continue to help more like them!
We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
Can't adopt but still want to help this dog? Click on the "Sponsor Me" button at the top of this page to donate toward his/her care! All donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward the care of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your support!

NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures, on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
