My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MAJOR is a 2 year neutered black male Lab who weighs 47 pounds. Major can't get enough of his people and loves to be near them and in their lap. He came in to the shelter with a female Beagle mix who went to another rescue. Major did fine meeting other dogs at the shelter. We don't have any cat history, but he did growl at one, so probably safest to say no cats. : Major comes from the suburbs and has no exposure to big cities. Placement is limited to single family stand-alone home in a suburban neighborhood, or rural area. No kid history, so approved for kids 10+.

July 7, 2016: Major is a happy dog and loves it best when he can be with you, beside you or in your lap. He will give you loads of love with tip of the tongue kisses and gentle touches with his paws. He’s good on the leash, walking with you or just in front of you. He almost never pulls even though he sees all the rabbits, squirrels and cats. He would love the freedom of the chase, but knows not to. Everyone that see him comments on what a good looking dog he is and how well behaved he is. He knows “sit” and “shake” and is ready to learn all your other commands.

Update:: Major continues to be a peach, he's still a total snuggle bug. He's sweet and is getting more and more comfortable with his foster family and playfully steals the occasional shoe now and then. He continues to do good in the crate, and prefers to go poop while on a walk. Definitely does good in the townhouse and noises don't seem to bother him. Major and the resident dog continue to play, play, play!

Update: Major continues to be a super cutie in his foster home. He was left home alone for the first time over the weekend and did well in his crate for the 4 hour time period. He protested a little at first, but settled down quickly and did not do any damage to the dog bed in his crate. Like most labbies, he was super excited to see his foster family when they got home.

Update: Major is definitely a lap dog, loves to snuggle with you on the couch or on the bed. He plays great with his foster brother Henry. He seems to know some commands, such as sit, lay down, and stay.He lets you know when it's time to go to the bathroom, he paces and starts staring at you. We have taken him on two walks and he's done great on the leash. His only vice is that he begs for food, he will try to stick his nose in your plate. He's very gentle, smart, and affectionate. He sleeps through the night with no issues. He's doing well in his foster home, which is a townhouse, so he's approved for townhouse living!

From transporter: He is a sweetie. He came out happily wagging his tail. When walking there was lots of weaving back and forth and knocking into me. He rides pretty well in the car, he just needs to be harnessed in or crated, or he'll try to sit in your lap.
