My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wrigley is in a foster-to-adopt situation!

Welcome to the wild world of Wrigley! Wrigley is a beautiful pup that we ran across on our latest visit to Animal Care and Control. He caught our eye and after bringing him out of his cage, we realized that this pup had a lot of love to give. He is extremely affectionate and lights up when he has some attention paid to him. Between his gorgeous eyes and puppy antics, he is a perfect fit for NLOL.

Wrigley is a a golden retriever/collie mix. Since goldens are eager to please and have a patient demeanor, it offsets traditional collie behavior (highly energetic and a tendency for destructive beahviour if not given enough to do). Both of these descriptions are perfect for the little man. One minute, he is calmly munching on a toy, the next he is jumping for attention. That includes Wrigley thinking he is still a tiny puppy since he loves to squish his whole body into your lap if given the chance.

Make no mistake, this little guy is incredibly smart but lacks proper training. He is extremely motivated to please (especially when treats are involved!) but is sometimes a bit unsure of what his leader wants him to do. This often results in him losing focus. Have no fear! With the proper amount of time spent, this little charmer will turn into quite the loyal and obedient family member. He is very friendly with other dogs and absolutely loves his intake partner Shane. At events, they are known to shower each other with kisses for hours at a time.

The ideal family for Wrigley would have time to dedicate to training right off the bat. Additonally, they will need to be patient enough to deal with the joys of proper potty training. He can definitely be an only dog (as long as he has regular interaction with others to help burn off some of that energy!) but would do well in a household with another (as long as the other dog is patient). Wrigley does well with children too, but only if they are older. He does not know his own strength yet and could see them as wrestling buddies.
