My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

7/24/16 - IVE BEEN ADOPTED!
Adoption Fee: $500

Fostered in Louisiana

Age: 2 years

Weight: 9.6 lbs.

> 6/26/16 - Psst! I have a secret to tell you. I have the winning lottery ticket for Saturday night’s drawing and I want to share it with you. So here’s the plan. Fill out the online adoption application for me, wait to be approved and then after all of the procedures are finished, come take me home. Make sure to pick me up on Saturday. We can have a little dinner, take a little nap and get up just in time for the 10:00 p.m. drawing. Then Sunday, we can go to the dog store and buy out the whole store, and then swing by where ever you want, and pick you up a few things. Ok. I might or might not be fibbing about the ticket. But, you can’t blame a guy for trying.

> Anyway, my name is Henry. I had a family. They had a child. The house got crowded. My things were packed. That’s the short of it. Now I’m in a foster home with YHR and not missing my previous family one bit. When I came to YHR, they noticed I limped a little on my left back leg. So, while I was in getting my normal vetting, i.e., neuter, shots, heartworm test, bloodwork, and so on, they x-rayed it and seems I had obviously been injured before somehow. The x-ray showed a femur fracture that happened previously and was starting to try to heal on its own, but I needed a FHO (Femoral Head and Neck Osteotomy) surgery to make me better. The vet said I was a champ to not even act like this bothered me.
>
> Surgery was scheduled and performed on June 7th. It’ now the 26th, and I am doing great. Foster mom makes sure I don’t run crazy out in the yard just yet, but I’m walking and getting around quickly in the house just fine.
>
> In my foster home, there are two large dogs and some cats. I am friends with them all. I also like dogs my own size. I simply love playing with toys and getting loving from my humans. I like foster mom and foster dad just the same, but will be attached and follow around whomever is talking to me. I’m a very hearty eater and have been known to beg for table scraps. Foster mom has seriously let me know that this is a no-no.
>
> I am doing well in the potty department, but do need to go out more often than my larger buddies here since my bladder is smaller. I can promise that I won’t have some mistakes in the beginning when I move in with you, but I get better with routine, praise and consistency. I do fine on a harness and leash and would not mind going on walks if that is what you are into.
>
> In the first week here, foster mom learned some very important things about me that you should know and that only apply for me if you are ok with these things. 1) I HATE CRATES! I don’t like being confined and have just about injured myself escaping from an open air crate. I also will not take kindly to being put in a room with a closed door. Sectioning my off with a baby gate won’t work either, since high jumping is one of my proudest traits. Lol So, to that end, I sleep GREAT in the bed with the humans at night, and when you must leave me during the day, I am just fine to have free roam while you are gone. I don’t tear up anything, and am a perfect gentlemen until you get home. When you first leave, I do whine a bit because I love being with my people and have a little bit of anxiety when left. Even if you are just going outside to get something, I want to come.
>
> Here is the most important thing. I am an Escape Artist. It’s not that I don’t like my foster home, I’ve just got that terrier trait in me and will get out with a cracked door, loose fence board, low area under the fence, chain link I can climb..... You get the hint. I am a flight risk. So I cannot go outside alone, you will need to come with me or I will occupy myself and BE GONE!
>
> I adore laying on the sofa being rubbed, being carried around, played with, talked to. Anything that involves you paying attention to me. I even enjoy being brushed and will sit still for it. Foster mom says I have an awesome, glass is half full, personality and disposition. I’m very loving and sweet, fairly obedient-but can be pig-headed at times.
>
> I seem to like older children, but unfortunately, with my escape artist tendencies, I cannot be adopted to a home with them. I am fast, smart and crafty when it comes to getting out.
>
> So, what do you say about that dinner, nap and lottery winning? Feeling lucky?
