Mickie D.'s Story...
Meet Mickie D! This pretty lady was in bad shape when she came to Tenth Life. She was found wounded in Poplar Bluff, with a large abcess on her side and limited mobility in her front legs. After a lot of TLC, Mickie’s wound has healed and she only just barely limps. Her muscle tone continues to improve as she regains her strength.

Mickie is very happy to be off the streets, and she lets you know it by purring at all times. She is totally content just laying in your lap. She doesn't have a problem with dogs, and only uses foul language with cats when they do first. But, even then, it's only hissing, and she walks away.

Mickie has an incredibly laid-back personality. Her foster mom reports that she can pick Mickie up, flip Mickie on her back and Mickie will remain relaxed and purring. Mickie would adapt well to any home, but is especially suited to an elderly person who is looking for a mellow kitty. Mickie would be totally content just laying with someone all day. Will she be your next couch buddy?

Approx. DOB 3/11/15

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mickie D., a St. Louis Calico cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Calico for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Calico cat from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Calico breeders who help with Calico rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
