Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sometimes it's difficult to put in words all the abuse and ignorance we see daily in rescue. The story of some of these dogs just grab you by your heart and makes you wonder what is wrong people that think this is ok. This is one of them.
Maddie's mom is a purebred Siberian husky, we believe her daddy is a German Shepherd. Maddie was born a year ago with both her eyes "marbled" (meaning they are brown and blue). Apparently the owner sold all the other puppies but because Maddie had marbled eyes he was going to wait for them to turn completely blue. Someone told the owners that for her eyes to turn blue to keep Maddie from being exposed to direct light. They kept Maddie in a closet for her first 6 months hardly ever leaving the room. We also think, she was abused, because she gets really scared of loud voices.
When a rescuer heard her story, he went to talk to the owners and thankfully they agreed to surrender her. She has been in fostered with us since June 2016 and we have been unable to find her a furever home.
When we started fostering Maddie, we quickly realized she is one happy girl. She loves her people, is great with dogs and cats. She is even crate trained. Her downfall is that when she is afraid or gets excited, she pees. That's how she expresses her fears and her excitement. Because of this we have had a very difficult time finding her a home that will open up their heart and have lots of patience with her.
Maddie is one year old, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. Her ideal home would be one that would have a fenced in backyard, one that is calm, not loud, and mostly patient. She will overcome this but will need time.
We hope that home is out there, she deserves a chance, she deserves what all dogs deserve... a loving home! Her adoption fee is $150
