Penny's Story...
We are proud to introduce you to Penny, an absolute darling who loves her people more than life itself. She is, however, deaf but please don’t tell her that. She could care less and certainly doesn’t let it hinder her. Naturally a deaf dog needs a different approach when it comes to training and interaction. Because of this, we feel Penny would do best in an all adult home as children may not understand her disability. Penny is extremely healthy and ready for her next adventure. How about with you?

Age: 3 years old

Weight: 17 pounds

Health: Excellent but she is deaf

Demeanor: Sweet, playful, active, social, anxious, somewhat vocal, alpha

Likes: People, dogs, cats, playing tug-o-war, belly rubs, sleeping in your bed (or in her own bed), treats, bones, stuffed toys

Dislikes: Quick hands/movements, unfamiliar surroundings, new experiences, being crated

Manners: Housebroken, knows some hand signals

Fenced Yard Required: Yes

Tidbits: Adorable Penny is a little character. She is a dominant girl who really enjoys rough housing with other dogs (as long as they know who’s boss. Penny will not back down should there be a tiff). She is strong willed and is a somewhat protective of her toys and food. We think it might be important for her to have another doggy playmate but one that is submissive (and has energy like her). Although Penny loves children of all ages, we want her in a child-free home (older kids are okay) due to her hearing impairment. Young children do not understand the needs of a deaf dog. A startled dog is often a dog that reacts in a negative way.

Though she loves going for walks, Penny is leash aggressive towards other dogs. Because of this, she would do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can play, run and do her doggy business without the stress of a leash. Thankfully her aggression is not exhibited off leash. She also has some separation anxiety which is displayed by digging in her crate. She does calm a bit if she is given a Kong toy with peanut butter. Ideally she won’t be left for long periods of time (I’m talking to you work-from-home or retired folks).

Don’t overlook this beautiful girl! Though she may come with a few challenges, she’s worth your time and effort. Her previous family adored her and did many wonderful things to help her. Their wish is for her to go to the right home with someone who will love Penny as Penny will love them. They want her to succeed in her new environment and we do too. Her people are her world and Penny deserves the best!

The adoption fee for this dog is $350.00 which includes altering, heartworm testing, vaccines, micro-chipping, harness, leash and identification tags. This dog is being fostered in a private home and is not available for viewing.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Penny, a Greensboro Boston Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boston Terrier for sale in Greensboro, or seeking a Boston Terrier dog from a breeder in Greensboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Greensboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Greensboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boston Terrier breeders who help with Boston Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Greensboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
