Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Baloo, an approximately 50lb, 3 yr old Great Pyrenees/Australian Shepherd mix. Baloo came up from southern IN, where he was in a high kill shelter before being placed in a prison program on the day he was to be euthanized. He must have been a stray for some time because though he looks very fluffy, he needs to gain weight as his shoulder blades and spine can still be felt.and his head seems too large for his body.
Baloo knows how to climb stairs, rides well in a car and gets along with most other dogs. As part Great Pyrenees, Baloo does have the guardian characteristics of the breed and will place himself between his human or "flock" and a perceived threat. He is nervous in new situations so his foster home is exposing him to new experiences to build up his confidence. He did spend 4th of July night with his nose in his foster mother's armpit because of the fireworks and will jump next to her for protection against thunderstorms.
Baloo ignores cats but was observed being very, VERY interested in squirrels. After some initial hesitation, he's starting to like being Furminated. Baloo was very patient with a neighbor's kindergartener and did very well with all of the chaos and children at the Clear the Shelter's event at the Geneva Petsmart (50 dogs!). Baloo does not like cantaloupe or peaches but does like Vietnamese food, crepes and baked goods. Despite having been hungry for quite a while, he will take treats very gently.
Baloo has been altered and is up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations. If you feel Baloo would be a good addition to your family, please call Margrit at 630.820.1584. Baloo's adoption fee is $200.
