Facts about Griffey

  • Breed: Domestic Mediumhair
  • Color: Orange Or Red Tabby
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Medium
Hi! I’m Griffey (yes, named after the baseball player), a medium-to-large sized adult male (about 3 years old) orange tabby. Also note my big pretty orange eyes and the half-smile that I have when I’m particularly content...

I’m a very gentle and friendly fellow who always wants to be in the same room as my humans (as long as it’s not thundering outside—that makes me hide in the closet). Although sometimes I like to sit in your lap, generally I want to sit/sleep right next to you at all times in order to make it as easy for you as possible to give me head scratches. I’m very well-suited for the life of an indoors cat—I am completely litter box trained, do not make much noise, love my dry cat food, and know to scratch only on my scratching post. I like to play fetch with my toy mouse also—when I’m in the mood to play, you can throw it and I’ll chase it and bring it back to you to throw again. Also, I love water and can often be found splashing around in the tub after someone takes a shower. I bond very closely to my humans, so give me a little patience to get to know you and we’ll both soon be happy when I’m by your side nonstop too!

I’m usually at my foster home rather than the weekend showings at Petsmart, so please email to set up a time to meet me.

**For a limited time, all adoptions will receive a gift basket containing pet food and toys as well as a coupon book for $250 of savings on pet essentials at PetSmart! Free stuff and a fuzzy best friend—who could ask for more??

About Feral Feline Retreat dba Feline/Canine Friends of Houston

About Our Rescue Group...

Primarily we rescue and adopt the kittens of feral and stray mother cats. We also take in friendly kittens with or without mother cats if we have room at foster homes. In all cases we try to determine the where-abouts of the mother cats and provide options to spay the mother cat.

We also take in dogs and puppies if we can find a foster home.

We have a small sanctuary primarily to care for the feral cats we rescue and mostly rely on foster care for the pets we take in.

We make every attempt to spay the mother cat (or dog) of the puppies and kittens we rescue. If the mother is tame we add her to our adoptable pets and try to find a foster home. We return feral mothers to the location trapped if safe to live their lives with no more kittens.

We also provide assistance with trapping feral cats through loaning traps and providing advice for trap-neuter-release/return.

In cases where a stray or feral cat has kittens, we may be able to take friendly kittens and foster them for adoption. We request a donation to cover testing for FELV and FIV and spay the mother cat and will return the mother cat to you to care for.

We can provide barn cats from our feral colonies. These cats have been fixed and vaccinated and can be used for rodent control.

We rely mostly on donations to continue our rescue work and maintain the tiny sanctuary.
