Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.
My name is Keaton and I am a 3 year old neutered male Poodle who came to NBS Animal Rescue when the kind folks at Detroit Animal Care and Control found me wandering the streets as a stray and reached out to the awesome volunteers at NBS Animal Rescue to help me find my fur-ever home.
When I first came to my foster mom and dad I was really skinny - you see, I wasn't able to find a lot of food on the streets so I was really thankful for my foster parents making sure I got high quality food! I was a bit shy in my new home at first, but with some gentle words and a few tasty treats I settled in quite quickly and am learning how to demonstrate my gentlemanly doggy manners. I'm doing fantastic at doing my personal business outside, and although staying in a crate while my foster parents are at work is definitely not my favorite thing, I am learning that they do come back home to me every night and give me lots of love and attention.
I have a foster brother doggy who I like to play with occasionally. I am looking for a calm and quiet home with no kids and a family who is home often and likes to go for walks with me. Because I can be a bit shy, I would really do best in a home with an adult family. Although I do get along with most mellow and calm dogs, I would do well in a home as an only dog too as I really prefer a canine companion rather than a canine playmate.
My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?
These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
- No children.
- Only pet in the home, or a very mellow and low key canine friend.
If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:
1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….
2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.
3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.
My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.
