Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rocky a sophisticated senior chap. is10 and is extremely affectionate, friendly and loving. This little guy wants to be with someone all the time.
He lost his lifelong kitty sibling recently. His owners, by their own admission, viewed Rocky only as their other cat’s feline companion but didn’t show much love and affection to Rocky. In speaking to them, they acted as if he as a nuisance inconvenience or “left over.” Normally we reserve judgment and just focus on what we can do to get a cat to a better life, but these folks were kind of jerks, and Rocky is much better off, already in foster care.
Rocky has hyperthyroidism, a condition that is not infrequent in older kitties. This is managed effectively with Methemazole, a medication widely used for cats with this condition. We are currently (Aug/Sept) trying to get his medication levels as therapeutic as possible and have already made some adjustments. He had been throwing up and that has ceased once we placed him on a grain-free, wet-only healthy diet.
While not a lapcat with me, he loves physical closeness such as lying against you. He likes sitting in the window and looking outside. He is a greeter when you come home and is just all around loveable and social. He loves to have his "rump" scratched, it’s his sweet spot! He's declawed, so there's no worry about damaged furniture. Declawed cats still like to use a scratching post or pad though.
Rocky still loves to play with certain toys and especially the Cats Meow toy that has the stick that revolves under an apron. Of course he likes chasing strings and even the laser light. We always give him a small healthy treat after his laser light “hunt” though.
If you are looking for a stable, well behaved, gentleman and quiet loyal companion, Rocky is for you! This guy is really special and at his very wise and wonderful age, he knows what he likes and wants. He needs to be the only pet at home but might manage with a female companion who is submissive.
He is up to date on everything - see the list of numerous incentives and rewards for adopting this super sweet guy! Call for arrangements for a meet and greet after we do a preliminary pre-adoption screening.
