My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***DONATIONS NEEDED STILL NEEDED***

COCO'S STORY: (see Update & Current News below)
4 Legged Love has taken on CoCo a very sweet 5yr old Lhasa Apso has had emergency eye surgery and we are in dire need of donations to cover the costs of her surgery and recovery. CoCo’s previous owner neglected some of the basic needs like regular and proper grooming. As a result CoCo’s eyes became infected over and over, the long, dirty hair covering her eyes began to irritate her eyes, her eyes were always infected or on the edge of infection. Naturally CoCo was often rubbing her irritated and now sore eyes. Her little eyes developed ulcers on the cornea which went untreated. The rubbing of the eyes eventually rubbed all the fur off around her eyes! She has now been so badly neglected with her eye care that her right eye completely ruptured! CoCo was now rubbing her eyes constantly and her owner’s solution was to have her wear an Elizabethan collar all the time! Her owners finally took her to the vet to see why she kept scratching… They were told that her right eye had ruptured and had done so a while ago based on the green ooze now coming from her eye and the now dried blood around it. They were told her left eye was very close to rupturing as well and that she needed surgery immediately. CoCo was now in constant and intense pain. Her owners took CoCo home for a while to ‘think about things’ they brought her back to be euthanized. It was recommended that her owners surrender CoCo to 4 Legged Love to give her a chance to have the surgery and live her life and lucky for CoCo she was give up to 4 Legged Love.

We are in real need donations to help with the cost of her surgery. The much needed operation has costed $2000 but has been very worth while for CoCo. Please help!!!

About the operation: CocCo has had to have both her left and right eye removed due to the right eye having already ruptured and was not repairable, her left eye was very close to rupturing as well and it was decided it was in CoCo’s best interest to remove the left eye as well. She will make a full recovery and she will be blind but she will not be in pain any more. Blind dogs do very well and live happy, normal lives. She will not need any further surgery and as a result of having the eyes removed it will obviously not be a reoccurring condition.

UPDATE AND CURRENT COCO NEWS!!! :
CoCo has won the hearts and kindness of so many, this little dog is truly a special girl who has touched many lives in such a loving way.

We are please to announce that CoCo has found an absolutely wonderful, loving and understanding home where she is thriving, living and loving her life. She has loving parents who are very nurturing and taking care of all CoCo's needs just like we wanted for her. She doesn't have her sight but it hasn't stopped her from easily getting accustom to her new people, home and neighborhood. She has lots of friends where she lives - two and four legged and she often visits with other dogs. Her owner's love her to bits and have accommodated all of CoCo's needs and happily have her groomed on a regular basis. She has had no further complications with anything since she had her surgery with us over the summer. CoCo has made an impressive and complete recovery. The great thing is that she has been able to find herself in a loving home with people that cherish her.

Coco's surgery was very expensive and as a result we still have a small amount outstanding to cover on our bill at the vet and are happy to accept monetary donations towards the bill for CoCo or towards any other dogs in our program. We would greatly appreciate it if you would be willing to make a donation, no amount is too small. All donations are very helpful and always appreciated.

(Please keep in mind we are a small volunteer operated organization and as such we do not have Charitable Status so we are unable to provide tax receipts at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.)
