Moxie
noun mox•ie \ˈmäk-sē\
force of character, determination, or nerve.
"when you've got moxie, you need the clothes to match"

When sweet little Moxie came to us to help her find a new home, we just couldn’t resist looking up her name in the dictionary. What a surprise when we found her picture right under the definition! Moxie really is a great example of determination, and character. She has moved several times due to unfortunate circumstances, but is still determined to find her perfect human companion, and to make sure they get to experience the full force of her love! This sassy girl will
follow you around the house and keep your lap warm when you stop for a break. She loves to sleep next to, and even on top of her humans! And boy does she have nerve! Just wait until she steals the show with her crazy antics! She will be the center of attention once she starts playing with her favorite toy! So, do you have the clothes? Need a little Moxie to go with them? Come see if this is the right Moxie for you! She was born in 2013.

About Animal Welfare League-Montgomery County

About Our Shelter...

As many of you may already know, we have a mission: To enhance the lives of Montgomery County Maryland residents and animals through programs directed at education, adoption, animal shelter, and low cost spay/neuter. The AWLMC is committed to ending the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Montgomery County Maryland. With this in mind, we are partnering with the county shelter to help save the most at-risk animals. Currently, we are only working with cats. We hope to be able to add a dog program soon.

In order to save as many cats as possible, we have opened a no-kill shelter in Gaithersburg. We need your help in the form of direct financial donations and by volunteering your time. Our organization is strong and full of highly dedicated volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, professions and abilities. We are working together to save the lives of cats and kittens, to find them loving, forever homes and to have them spay/neutered. All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

We are the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.

Our Adoption Process...

All members of the adopter's household should be present at the adoption.

For all adopters who rent their home, we must see a copy of the adopter's lease or rental agreement showing that pets are allowed.

Current adoption fees: $75 for adults (cats over 1 year old) and kittens.
All of our cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. We currently accept only check or cash.

Potential adopters are required to fill out an application and to be interviewed by an AWLMC adoption counselor.

We can request home visits or vet checks prior to approving anyone for adoption.

Upon approval, the adopter must sign an adoption contract.

Adopters must have proof of ID (a driver's license or other government issued identification).

We will follow up on our adoptions which can include e-mails, phone calls, home visits, and vet checks.

These rules are subject to change.
