Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This beautiful girl is Ruby! She is just about the sweetest girl in the whole world, but she has a very sad story! We were called to rescue Ruby several days after her owners had hit her with their car. They claimed that they thought she was "fine", but she had been laying on their porch unable to move for days. In addition she was grossly overweight to the point that even if she hadn't been injured, it would have been hard for her to get up and get around. We rushed her to the vet, and x-rays showed a dislocated hip. Unfortunately the vet said she needed to lose weight before she could have surgery. We were hopeful that her leg could be saved, but to make a long story short, after months of weight loss and rehabilitation, the nerve damage was too great and her left hind leg had to be amputated. The day after surgery though, she was already up and walking around on her three good legs! She won't be winning any races, but she will be just fine as a tripod! Ruby now has a chance at a better life and is hoping to have a family that will appreciate her. Ruby has lost over 15 lbs, and we want to find her a family who understands that she needs to maintain a healthy weight so that she will continue to be able to get around on three legs. It is extremely important that she doesn't gain any of her lost weight back. Ruby is a very low maintenance girl! She is loving and sweet. She is good with other mellow dogs, but she doesn't care much for young, hyper dogs that pester her. If you want a gentle, easy-going dog, then Ruby is the dog for you! Her adoption fee is $150 and she is already spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting Ruby, please contact Delon.Washo@asu.edu or text your email address to 602-295-4518 and request an application on Ruby.
