Meet Skye, who came to came to the Coronado Animal Care Facility as a stray. She has spent the past year working on her manners in preparation to find her forever home. Skye is a female Staffordshire Terrier Blue Nose who is 5 years old and weighs 92 pounds.

This beautiful girl has a velvety coat, lovely liquid eyes and is as sweet as they come. While PAWS usually doesn't work with what are known as the "bully breeds," this dog stole the hearts of staff and volunteers alike, so we all made the commitment to caring for this wonderful animal and finding her a home.

Skye needs a home with ample space due to her size. She also needs plenty of exercise, as she is young and very energetic. She needs someone (or a couple, or a family) who will love her while keeping firm boundaries, so as not to undo all the hard work of the last year. She gets along with passive male dogs, but alpha males or any female dogs would not be appropriate playmates. And, if there are children in her new family, they need to be mature and responsible enough to understand Skye's breed, strength, personality and needs.

Perhaps you have the forever home Skye is looking for? Is there room in your life for a new best friend? If Skye is already tugging at your heartstrings, please contact Karen (call 619-437-0220 or email to set up an appointment to meet Skye. (For more information about Skye, read the PAWS July 2016 Insider Report - Board Report.)

About PAWS of Coronado

About Our Rescue Group...

Since 2003 PAWS of Coronado has worked with the Coronado Animal Care Facility to provide shelter and find homes for orphaned cats, kittens and dogs relinquished by their guardians, stray or abandoned cats, and cats rescued from abuse or neglect.

We are a small grass roots organization committed to 100 percent placement of adoptable animals and envision a time when every friendly, healthy, homeless animal in our community can be cared for until a new family is found.

Our cats are extremely socialized, relaxed, trusting and loving in large part to our cat petting program. Our dogs are equally socialized and trained due to the dog walking program. The caring hands and hearts of the volunteers and ACF staff help the animals thrive even in a facility environment.

You can become involved with PAWS of Coronado as a volunteer or as a member (there are a variety of levels of annual dues) or by contributing a memorial plaque for the Memorial Wall at the Coronado Animal Care Facility.
