Meet Baloo, a mix of American Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, American Eskimo Dog, Miniature Bull Terrier and a small mix of something unknown. His coat is black with silver highlights, absolutely stunning! Baloo had a really awful start in life. He came into rescue as a young puppy, but his previous owners abused him both mentally and physically causing emotional scars that he still carries with him even after a year in rescue. However, he is very lucky that he has a patient and loving foster home that has already made great strides with him. He loves them very much and they’re slowly teaching him how to trust. Despite his start, we don’t want that to define his entire life. We know the dog Baloo is capable of being, sweet and loving – we see it at his foster home! A quieter home with structure and people who understand a fearful dog. We remain hopeful that the right adopter, a patient person or couple without any children, will see in him what we do. Someone who wants to take on a project that will have the most worthwhile result.

About Thank Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Thank Dog Rescue is a charitable organization dedicated to finding loving homes for shelter, homeless and abandoned dogs of all breeds, for the love of dog.

Through a network of foster homes, our dogs are nurtured and loved and given a sense of normalcy in preparation for their permanent homes. They sleep in soft beds, have plenty to eat, feel the comfort of human touch and grass between their paws, play in the yard, nuzzle a foster furbling, but most importantly, gain confidence and cast aside any fears and worries from experiences past.

We also serve as a resource to the community by advocating responsible dog ownership and all that it entails, from proper socialization and training, to the benefits of routine and preventive medical care, especially spaying and neutering to prevent further overpopulation. We provide education and information on available lower cost veterinary options, work with owners on the verge of surrendering their dogs to shelters to figure out a retention plan to avoid unnecessary burdens on municipalities and lessen the pain and suffering of dogs.

We strive to build a community where dogs are valued and treated with the respect and quality of life they deserve. We are the voice of the voiceless.

Please join us in our passionate endeavor.

Our Adoption Process...

Our goal is to find the best fit for all because adopting a dog is a life long commitment. To this end, we carefully screen all applicants, conduct home visits and meet & greets to ensure that all members of the family get along harmoniously.

All dogs are micro chipped, spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccines prior to placement.

Here's the lowdown:

1. Start by completing our online adoption application found here: thankdogrescue.org/adopt

2. Once the adoption application is approved, a volunteer will call or email to schedule a meet and greet and home visit. All members of the household should be present for both.

3. If approved to adopt, pay the adoption fee prior to placement and agree to sign the adoption contract, available on our website via the Adopt link.

Adoption Fees: $200 adult dogs / $250 puppies
These fees help to recover some of the costs of vetting, food and supplies, and go right back into the pool to save additional dogs in need.

A few things to keep in mind prior to completing this application:

*We prefer applicants who are at least 21 years or older and will take special precautions in approving those in the range of 21 - 25 years. This is a period of time where many are in a state of flux. We only wish our dogs stable, permanent homes, so please understand our hesitation and respect our decision because it is all for the good of the dogs.

*Landlord and/or condo association consent (if applicable)

*Be prepared to show identification showing current address

*Be committed to having the dog for the duration of its life (10 - 15 years)

*Believe in and practice positive reinforcement training and non-aversive training methods (shock, choke, and prong collars and/or invisible/electric fences are NOT WELCOME here)
