Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Sadie and I am 5 years old and a whopping 11 lbs of cuddles, kisses and love. I look like I could be a Papillion/Chihuahua (“Papichi”) mix, but since I was found as a stray wandering the streets of Chicago, this is really just a guess. I am currently living in a foster home with awesome foster humans and a rather large cat who I get along great with. We will even share a lap at the same time with no problem. I haven’t been around too many dogs yet, but have gotten along well with the ones I have met at the park with no issues.
My foster mom considers me the best cuddler in the world…I love to nuzzle your neck and give lots of kisses. I currently am allowed to sleep in the bed under the covers cause that’s where I feel most secure and I don’t take up much space at all. When not cuddling, I love to play fetch with my toys. My favorite is my pink crocodile (see my photo) that I try to take everywhere, even on walks! Even though I am in heaven cuddling, I do have quite a bit of energy and can be just as playful as I am loving. I walk very nicely when I’m wearing my harness and leash and I get to go on several walks a day.
Overall I am a quiet girl and don’t talk (bark) much except for alerting my foster family when someone comes to the door - so I am a good watchdog in that respect. It takes me a little bit to warm up to someone new, which they say is fairly typical of small breeds. But I do warm up pretty quickly and am never ever on the offensive. I have learned “sit” and my foster family has been training me not to beg at the dinner table, so usually I just lay down by their feet and wait patiently until they are done. They have even taken me to a restaurant where pups can be outside with their people and I did great with that!
You should know I am a bit of a "velcro" dog when I am with my humans – It could be because I was once abandoned and never want to be again…or it could be in my DNA. My foster family feels that I should be adopted into a home where I’m not left alone for long hours. If nobody will be home for more than 4 hours, it would be great if a dog walker could stop by for some playtime and a bathroom break, but I am completely fine sleeping through the night with no accidents.
So if you’re looking not only for a cuddle-bug, but also a little social butterfly and can take me places with you (I love going in the car), please contact Adopt-A-Pet so that we can meet.
My adoption fee of $300 includes: vet exam, heart worm test (neg.), distemper, bordetella and rabies vaccinations, routine deworming, flea control, microchip and spay.
