Onyx's Story...
Onyx is about 7 months old and truly more adorable than seems possible at this young age. He will sit back and watch the other pups mastermind a situation and then jump in and enjoy the fun! He has the face of a grumpy old man but the heart of a love bug! Onyx will need to go to a family who can handle a medium energetic pup and an established dog to be a role model and teach this youngin' the ropes. In return you will find yourself smiling so much your face hurts and saying “Awwwww” at least 20 times a day! Are you the family Onyx has been waiting for?

If you're interested in adopting this pet please fill out our matchmaking questionnaire (www.rescuefromthehart.org). We are volunteer based and will do our best to get back to you within 72 hours. Please do not call as our phone is intended for emergencies only. If we feel that one of our dogs is a good match we will set up a private meet and greet We do not have a physical location where you can come and meet all the dogs at once, so meet and greets may take a little time to coordinate. Our requested adoption donation is $300 and all adopters are required to fill out an adoption agreement.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Onyx, a Van Nuys Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Van Nuys, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Van Nuys.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Van Nuys already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Van Nuys breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Van Nuys paves the way for another one to be saved.
