Peanut ButterCup's Story...
PEANUT & BUTTERCUP!! So these two munchkins that were found by all the kind neighbors that live around the park, in Northwest Houston. So scared that the neighborhood moms could not catch them, so they contacted us for assistance. This was during the heatwave of July 4th weekend and scary fireworks were right around the corner. It was imperative to get them to safety. Peanut was tired, hot and hungry, so she was pretty easy to coax with some tasty chicken. ButterCup was a little leery. Once Peanut was inside the car to cool off, ButterCup wanted in too! And she just jumped in and off to the Vet we went!
Unfortunately, they were not microchipped and did not have collars and owners have not been found. They are resting comfortably indoors at a temporary foster home as they await their spay surgery. They were just finishing their heat cycle, so they may have been dumped at the park.

Their sweet personality is shining through! Peanut is so loving and is going to be one of those grateful rescue dogs that loves to sit next to you or your feet. She lets you know when she would like to go outside, and she is crate trained, and has not had a potty accident during her stay! She loves FOOD, so she will have to watch her curvy figure. She could lose some weight. She likes to go for car rides, and rides great in the back seat. Will roll over to a tummy massage and gives sweet kisses.

ButterCup could be one of her older puppies from an early litter. They groom each other, and ButterCup looks to her for guidance. She is very puppy-like still. Loves to play with toys and give kisses once she gets to know you. Also crate trained, and has not had a single accident. She will reach for your hand and bring you in for a smooch.

Both walk well on a leash. Both have very easy grooming- wash, towel dry and comb through- Done!

I have not been able to introduce them to any dogs yet, as they were still finishing their heat cycle -- most females don't want to be around any other dogs during that time - hormones and the other dogs don't like it either. I can say that they ignore my dogs completely that bark at them through the baby gate and were great while we were at the vet clinic. They don't even bark back at them!! Once they are spayed and healed, we can do a meet and greet with other dogs.

Peanut is about 3 yrs old, pretty clean teeth, clean ears and bright eyes. BRIGHT SOULFUL EYES. HW negative, up-to-date on shots, and will be spayed in mid July before she can be officially adopted. She is on HW prevention and flea prevention. Weight: 20 lbs, but she should weigh 16-17 lbs once she is on a good diet! Havanese/Lowchen/Lhasa Apso mix

ButterCup is about 1.5 or 2 yrs old, clean teeth, clean ears and bright eyes. She has those eyes with great eyeliner! Up-to-date on shots, and will be spayed in mid July before she can be officially adopted. She is on HW prevention and flea prevention. She is young and I think she would make a great second dog to a dog that is stable/confident and likes to play. We think she has some Cairn Terrier in her. Weight:14.5 lbs and could also lose a little weight! When she is fit, she should weigh 12-13 lbs.

Adoption Fee is $300 for either one or if you would like to adopt both, the adoption fee would be reduced to $450 for both of them.
We require vet references and a home check, and fully fenced in yard.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peanut ButterCup, a Houston Lhasa Apso/Havanese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Lhasa Apso/Havanese for sale in Houston, or seeking a Lhasa Apso/Havanese dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Lhasa Apso/Havanese breeders who help with Lhasa Apso/Havanese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
