My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lincoln's adoption fee is $250.

Lincoln is a male Dachshund that weighs about 15 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, micro chipped and has recently had a dental. Although he is about 10 years of age, Lincoln has lots of energy and enjoys his walks and playing. He is a delightful and happy little fellow that thrives on love and affection – when he looks up at you with his beautiful, soulful eyes your heart just melts. He is a great cuddler and loves to sleep curled up beside you under the covers, even on the hottest days. Lincoln is house trained, but if left too long may have an accident.

Lincoln had some health concerns when he arrived into our care. He was in pain from a swollen disk in his spine (Dachshunds are prone to disk issues). He has recovered well with treatment (rest, anti-inflammatory medication and some cold laser treatments). However, certain steps should be taken to help prevent any re-occurrences – Lincoln should be picked up properly, carried up and down stairs, and jumping off furniture prevented. Lincoln also has some darkened, thickened and itchy skin on his legs, tail and under his chin – possibly caused by food or environmental allergies – he is receiving medicated baths and it is hoped that now his is on a better diet that his skin will improve.

Lincoln gets along with the other small dogs in his foster home, though he can be a bit food or toy possessive. He seems less comfortable with larger dogs and will bark when he encounters them on walks. He does tend to bark often – in excitement, when meeting new people, or when left alone, so he’d be best suited to living in a single home rather than in a shared housing situation. Because of his past occurrence of a disk flare-up in his back, an adult only home, or one with older children would be best for Lincoln. This sweet, loving dog would make a wonderful companion – he has lots of love and joy to share.
