Genevieve in BC's Story...
Genevieve is ready for adoption. She is the calmest, sweetest foster dog who has graced our home. New people? LOVES them! Kids? LOVES them! Walkies? Long hikes? Car rides? Cuddles? Skritches? Dinner time? Other dogs? LOVES IT ALL! She makes her voice heard if the cook is tardy, or if the doorman is slow on the job. Genevieve was a commercial breeding dog, but has left that life far, far behind. She hasn't figured out that toys can be fun (other than ones stuffed with treats), and has no interest in a ball, but would love a playful dog friend. Genevieve sleeps peacefully in her crate at night, and occasionally naps in an open crate near foster mom during the day. She would certainly prefer to sleep on a couch or bed, but accepts the crate with a treat tossed inside and snoozes nicely until foster mom wakes up. She is missing part of one ear (from her earlier life), but has no sensitivity around that ear, and can hear just FINE, thank you. Just try opening a crackly treat bag within a mile ;). We think that her missing ear just adds to her endearing charm. She is a pretty little dog who would make anyone a pretty great pet.
Genevieve is being fostered in Gibsons, British Columbia in a PRIVATE FOSTER HOME but we allow our dogs to be adopted out all over the United States and Canada!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Genevieve in BC, a Portland Cairn Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cairn Terrier for sale in Portland, or seeking a Cairn Terrier dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cairn Terrier breeders who help with Cairn Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
