My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tessa is a senior red & white girl who came to BHRG from a north Georgia animal control after she was found as a stray. She has finished treatment for heartworm and is now healthy. Tessa is hard of hearing, and she sleeps very soundly. She sleeps through the night without accidents, but if she gets up from a nap, she needs to go out right then to avoid accidents. She won't hear you call her if she is asleep, and she will sleep through a treat being put in front of her nose. But if you touch her, it scares her, and she jumps right up. Tessa is very arthritic, but is on medicine that helps her feel better. She tries to play with her foster sister, the weimaraner, and it is very funny. But she tires very easily, and gets sore. Tessa loves to cuddle on the couch, but needs help to get on the couch. She is very demanding about her attention, and if you stop petting before she is ready for her nap, she will nudge and nudge and nudge until you start again! And then lay her head on your lap and look at you with her big beautiful brown eyes, and you can't help but keep petting her. Tessa has congestive heart failure secondary to heart damage from heart worms. She is on several medicines that she takes twice a day. She is a champ at taking her medicine! She coughs every once in a while, but now that she has been on her meds for a few months, she is doing much better.
