Riley's Story...

On June 17 ARF was asked to accept a toy schnauzer into their rescue program.  The lady who had him said he was used for breeding until she took him six months ago.  He's a great little dog and she hates to part with him, but she works and has not been able to housetrain him. Having had no choice but to use his kennel for three years, he needs someone who can be with him and patiently show him that outside is a better option.  ARF was asked find him a good home with someone who would be home and have the time to work with his training.  He is 3 years old and weighs 8.3 pounds and is up-to-date on shots. Riley has also been neutered.  He was surrendered and taken to boarding on June 25.  He gets along with other dogs but will chase cats, but not to hurt them.  (Most are bigger than he is!)  Riley needs a little work with training, but his nature is so very good!  He likes to go for car rides and he will let you hold him like a baby to get his belly rubbed. He has been in a cage most of his life, so to get to run in a fenced yard would be heaven to him! He doesn't know yet how good life can be! ARF can't wait for him to get the happy ending he deserves.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Riley, a Ripley Standard Schnauzer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Standard Schnauzer for sale in Ripley, or seeking a Standard Schnauzer dog from a breeder in Ripley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ripley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ripley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Standard Schnauzer breeders who help with Standard Schnauzer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ripley paves the way for another one to be saved.
