Stitch came to us from a Detroit Police officer who was called to a home about a dog that was stuck in a yard and couldn't free himself. When the officer got there he found a dog with a make shift leash that had gotten caught on the fencing in someone's yard. Not only did he find Stitch, he found his best friend with him, another small breed dog that wouldn't leave Stitch's side while he was stuck. The officer then contact us to take them on. We looked for their possible owner with no luck of finding them. We did not separate them initially because they were so bonded. However, when his friend Lilo got altered and then found a home right afterwards, they were not joined together again due to the fact that she was fixed before he could be and she found a home so quickly. Now Stitch is also looking for his furever family also.
Stitch is a male Doxi/Patterdale Terrier mix we believe that is approximately 2 years of age and weighs approximately 22 to 25 pounds. He is a tiny bit shy but gets over that quickly. In fact he is more outgoing compared to his friend that was found with him. He is a very sweet boy that loves attention and gets along with all of us that volunteer at the kennels. He loves to go for long walks and likes to take a rests now and then in the bushes along the way to keep cool. He would love a family to play with him or take him for long walks that he enjoys so much. Although he got along with the gal he was found with, he isn't very friendly to other dogs that come near him, especially larger breed dogs. We normally do not place with cats when they react to dogs. Therefore, a home by himself is preferred.
