Here's what the humans have to say about me:
weet docile Petunia....scared of her own shadow needed saved and we had to say YES. This 3-4 year old girl is precious but has zero confidence. Appears scared of most things except other dogs - she loves other dogs.
Petunia will be moving on 7/21 to one of our dog trainers to live and learn to be a well balanced non fearful dog. A home with another confident dog is needed for this girl as she will take the lead from them and be able to feel more safe.
Adoptable Petunia was out enjoying a little time in the field this morning. She's a really sweet dog that is very fearful. She hasn't been exposed to many new people or things in her life so everything is scary. She's made progress since she's been here but she is going to require a calm home with a patient adopter that will keep working to help her overcome her fears. Other dogs help her be more confident so at least one other dog in the house would be good. She is not at all aggressive. Her fear puts her in flight mode so a secure yard and home is essential. Working with a dog like Petunia is definitely a process but the rewards are great when you see progress. We know because our little guy Jack was a lot like her when he first came to us 7 years ago. He's come so far and we've never regretted adopting him. Adoption fee 125.00
UPDATE 10/16: From Petunia's foster home: In the handful of weeks that Miss Petunia has been in our home, she has made some extraordinary progress!! With tons of help from my fur family, she is starting to learn how to just be a dog. She is coming to us willingly for treats and affection, she's spending time socializing instead of hiding, and is actually showing happy body language when she sees us. She gets excited to go for car rides and long line outings in quiet, out of the way places....especially if there is water to play in!! She still has a long way to go trusting people, and learning how to relax and cope with novel situations, but the swift progress she has shown here makes us so optimistic and happy for this incredibly sweet, silly girl's future!
