Charlie's Story...
Good day – it’s lovely to meet you. I’m Charlie. I have to admit, things haven’t been so great for me lately. I thought I had a forever home, but then one day, completely out of the blue, my family abandoned me...outside of all places! I waited for them to come back to get me but they never did. Luckily, some nice volunteers saw that I did not belong outdoors and whisked me away to lovely foster home. They’ve told me that there are wonderful people out there who give sweet boys like me second chances.

Let me tell you a little bit about how great I am. I’m obviously quite handsome. And I’m what you’d call a sophisticated kitty. I like to spend my days lounging around waited to be petted. But don’t worry, grown up kitties like me still like to play. I am deaf, and I have a little trouble seeing, but it doesn’t bother me much. My foster home has other cats and dogs in it, and they’re pretty nice, so I wouldn’t mind sharing my home with other kitty or doggie friends, as long as they are laid back like me. I am an older gentleman, and with that I’ve developed a thyroid condition. But, don’t worry, the vet says that it is completely manageable with a little medication.

I still have lots of love to give. Is there room in your home and your heart for a sweet guy like me?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Charlie, a Richmond Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
